He was predeceased by: his parents, Curley Poindexter and Hazel Dejarnette Poindexter; and his siblings, Barbara Ann Poindexter, Geraldine Pannell and Tracy Poindexter.

He is survived by: his wife Constance Dalton Poindexter; his children, Patricia Streeter, Cheryl Poindexter, Liquita Ward and Edward Poindexter; his children-in-law, Dr. Monica Kerr and Michael Ward; his daughter Valeria Lambert; his grandchildren, Enoch Streeter, Jr., Alexis Ward, McKenzie Ward, Edward Poindexter, Jr., Cole Poindexter and Catherine Poindexter; his great grandchildren, Eliana Gilbert-Streeter and Elias Gilbert-Streeter; and his brothers, Curtis Poindexter (Eudora), Melvin Poindexter, Donnie Poindexter (Ava) and Terry Poindexter. He is also survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and friends.
