He is survived by: his wife Angela Cox-Patterson; his children, John Patterson III (Nikki), Terry Jackson, Tajuana "Monique" Sailas and Kendria M. Lacy; his stepdaughter Nikkidra Cox; his siblings, Kelvin Patterson, Kenneth Patterson (Marie), Stephen Tinsley (Paulette) and Angela Patterson-Johnson (Sidney); his stepmother Carolyn Scott (Frank); and his aunt Mary Francis Benjamin (Nathaniel). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
