He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph R. Koelsch and Sharon Koelsch. He is survived by: his son Johnny Hammans (Ariel) of Bedford; his brothers, Monte Tucker of Lynchburg and Richard Koelsch (DeeDee) of Rustburg; and his nieces and nephews, Jessica Lewis (Bryan), Brittany Gilbert (Robbie), Courtney Lethcoe (Jeremy), Allison Koelsch, Shawn Koelsch, Luke Lethcoe, Cora-Beth Lethcoe and Skarlett Gilbert. He is also survived by family members and friends.
