He was predeceased by: his parents, George Walter Roots and Sylvia Jean Roots; his daughter Lori Ann Templeton; and his brother Michael Roots. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie J. Roots; his children, Amy K. Gwartney (Mark) and Richard K. Roots; his sister Carol R. Gilliam; his son-in-law Darrell Templeton; and his grandchildren, Lauren McHenry, Lexi Stinnette (Chris), Matt Moser (Katy), Reanna Roots, Caralina Gwartney, Levi Templeton (Sara), Elizabeth Gwartney, Titus Gwartney (Alyssa) and Rebecca Busikwa. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
