With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Lydia Gorton of Lynchburg, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by : her parents, John Baker and Lydia Stake; and her brother John. She is survived by : her husband Daryl; her son Chris Shaffer (Vona); her stepchildren, Ian Gorton (Nicole) and Christine Meehan (John); her grandchildren, Christian Shaffer, Donavan Sharp, Gavin Gorton, Trescella Shaffer, Meghan Meehan and Kathleen Meehan; her great grandchild Jack; and her sisters, Mary Rennels (Wayne) and Debbie Ridgeway (John). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24502). A memorial service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Boonsboro United Methodist Church (113 Coffee Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24503).
