She was predeceased by: her husband Judge William W. Sweeney of Lynchburg, VA; her parents, Herman Mays and Colelda Mays; and her siblings, Marshall Mays, Wenonah Gilliam and Blanche Mays.

She is survived by: her children, Debra Sweeney of Elbert, CO, Dan Sweeney (Cindy) of Lynchburg and John Sweeney (Gigi) of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Jeb Haley, Sarah McGlothin (Aaron) of Carrboro, NC, Bradley Sweeney (Lauren) of Norfolk, VA, Anna Jamerson (Ryan) of Raleigh, NC, William Sweeney and Beach; her children, Charles Sweeney and Beach; her great grandchildren, Crosby McGlothlin (Sarah), Wyatt and Noah Sweeney (Bradley); Pat Haley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
