He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Shoemaker and Midred Shoemaker; his siblings, Mildred'Ann'Poe, Betty Lou Robbins, Sandra Robbins and Richard Shoemaker; his wife Susan Gale Shoemaker; and his sons, Terry Shoemaker and Mike Shoemaker.

He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Wood (Aaron Wood) of Madison Heights and Danny Shoemaker (Gina Crago) of Lynchburg; his brother Roy Willie Shoemaker of Madison Heights; his daughter-in-law Angela Shoemaker of Madison Heights; his friend Junior Mays of Amherst; his pet Susie Q'and; and his grandchildren, Michae Shoemaker (Colby), Joshua Shoemaker (Angel), Crystal Vaughn (John), Colton Wood, Danny Ray Crago (Hunter), Miranda Crago (BJ), Nick Wright, Chris Wright and Brandon Wright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
