It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nancy Sligh McCormick (Madison Heights, Virginia), who passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Marshall Sligh and Minnie Thomas Abbott; her daughter Shelia Annette Layne; her stepfather Billy Abbott; and her siblings-in-law, Bob Hughes and Kathy Stanley.
She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Ray McCormick; her children, Vicky Layne Campbell (Tony), Lisa Layne Mitchell (David), Tammy Layne Shoemaker and Robert Morris Layne (Kelly); her grandchildren, Anthony Jarrett Layne, Colby Randall Layne, Dalton Shoemaker and Amanda Mitchell Schmitt (Jason); her great grandchild Nora Jean Schmitt; her siblings, Danny Ray Abbott (Kathy), Carolyn Sligh Hughes and Brenda Abbott Wilson (Smokey); her siblings-in-law, Debbie McCormick, Molly McCormick and Donnie McCormick (Crystal); her uncle Sherman Sligh (Barbara); and her pet Buddy. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
