It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thurmond Ellis of Madison Heights, Virginia, who passed away on June 9, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ellis and Minnie Johnson Wilson; and his sons, Calvin "Steve" Ellis and Willie Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Edna Ellis; his daughters, Patricia Franklin (Numan) of Lynchburg, VA and Angela Richerson (Antonio) of Madison Heights, VA; and his grandchildren, Tiffany Robinson (Ronald), Amie Dortch (Brian), Nina Franklin (Tayari), Troy Beasley, Raven Rose (Kendrick), Twana Franklin of Antonio, Richerson Jr. of Calvin and Ellis Jr.. He is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
The lying in state will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24502). Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory (220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24502). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
