He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Russell Carpenter, Sr. and Virginia Clore Carpenter; and his siblings, Delmar Lee Carpenter and Virgina Clark. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Estelle Hurt Carpenter; his son Russell Lee Carpenter; his sisters, Mary Carpenter, Frances Dodson and Ann; his granddaughter Daphne Lynn Anderson; and his great grandchildren, Miles Davis and Layla Davis.
