He was predeceased by: his parents, Thornton Lancaster and Nancy DeJarnette Berry; his brother Edward DeJarnette Berry; and also, Coleman Clore and William "Bill" Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Bettie Mahan Berry; his daughters, Clarissa Thornton Berry and Elizabeth Berry Mawyer (James Carlton Mawyer); his grandchildren, Thornton, Henry and Matilda; his sister Nancy B. Coppedge (Dennis L. Coppedge); his sister-in-law Sarah "Essie" M. Berry; and his close friends, William "Billy" Powell and Spencer DeJarnette. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
