She was predeceased by: her parents, Warner Bates and Edna Bates; her husband Jack Markwood; her siblings, Velva, Vonda and Ed; and her great grandchild Alex Green.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Denhup and Jackie Smoot (Matt); and her sister Peggy Boleratz.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Barbara's memory to causes close to her heart: Alex's Army Childhood Cancer Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the SPCA.
