She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Fleming and Bessie Fleming; her brothers, Howard Elmer Fleming and William Lawson Fleming; and her husband James.

She is survived by: her children, James Lewis, Jr. (Gay), Barbara Green, Karen Lyddane (Denis) and Elizabeth "Betty" Masters (Steve); her grandchildren, Sheryl Gatz (Chris), Stephanie Masters (Channing), Colin Masters, Patrick Green (Basia) and Sarah Green; and her great grandchild Elizabeth.

“I first met Elizabeth when we honored her as an American Hero during our celebration of Military Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A Signal Hill,9506 Liberia Avenue, Manassas. We fell in love with her immediately. We made a large picture framed poster of her holding a sign that the Army published during WWII asking for nurses to volunteer to join the Army. We gave her a copy and we have a copy that we put up every year at our event and have her attend. George Snyder Owner/Operator.”
