He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucen Thompson and Bernice Thompson; his wife Barbara Thompson; his son Danny Lee Thompson, Jr.; and his sister Debra Sexton.
He is survived by: his son Derek Thompson; his sister Sharon Gilliam; his grandchildren, Michael Thompson (Montana), Jalyn Thompson, Kaleigh Thompson and Loghan Thompson; his great grandchild Shepherd Thompson; his grandson Ethan Blevins; and his close friend Chuck Barker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Danny's Home (8212 W Lee Hwy, Rural Retreat, VA 24368).
