He was predeceased by: his mother Hallie Phipps Crigger; and his stepfather Alfred Crigger. He is survived by: his wife Vickie Phipps; his children, James Phipps (Rachel) of Marion, VA, Jeanette McDaniels (Scott) and Atlanta Phipps; and his grandchildren, Scott McDaniels, Jr., Colton McDaniels, Jake McDaniels, Faith Brown and Easton Brown.
