He was predeceased by : his wife Juanita Higginbotham Hartsell; his parents, Odie Hartsell and Opal Hartsell; and his brothers, Olen Dewitt Hartsell and Charlie Dewayne "Buddy" Hartsell.
He is survived by : his children, Lynda Hartsell of Martinsville and James D. Hartsell, Sr. of Lima; his grandchildren, Jack Hartsell, James D. Hartsell Jr., Joshua Hartsell and Jordan Hartsell; his great grandchildren, Garrett Hartsell and Grey Hartsell; and his pet BooBoo. He is also survived by his family and friends.
