She was predeceased by : her parents, Elmer Nalls and Ellie Glascock Nalls of Hume, VA.; her husband Dock Carter; and her siblings, Clarence Nalls, Ruth Anderson and Irene Lunceford.

She is survived by : her children, Nancy Jane Schmidt of Culpeper and Thomas Allen Carter (Kathy) of Marshall; her grandchildren, Luke Schmidt (Missy) of Rocky Mount, VA, Joey Remondino (Janenne) of Vienna, VA, Tim Schmidt of Martinsburg, WV, Jacob Carter of Fredericksburg, VA and Erin Carter of Marshall, VA; and her great grandchildren, Kinsley Schmidt, Sofia Remondino, Marley Schmidt, Charleigh Schmidt and Angelina Remondino.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
