She was predeceased by : her husband William Hampton Payne; her sons, Floyd and William Payne; and her brothers, Joseph and Howard Timbers.

She is survived by : her daughter Linda Akintilerewa (Olugbenga) of Culpeper, VA; and her sister Katherine Ball of The Plains, VA. She is also survived by two grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandchild.
