She was predeceased by: her father Frederick Carter; and her siblings, Bertha Hairston, Jean Cleamons, Joan Brown, Janice Kirby, Fredrick Carter, Jr., Nathaniel Carter, Sr., Howard Carter, Sr. and Timothy Carter, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Semeka "Mimi" Hairston, Frankie Carter, Stacy Carter (Stephanie) and Lyndon Carter; and her sisters, Siberia Hairston and Senora Mahan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
