He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Edward Smith, Sr. and Billie Jean Dodson Smith; his daughter Brittney Smith; his siblings, Elsie Copper and Robert "Bobby" Smith, Jr.; and his granddaughter Arianne Smith.

He is survived by: his sons, Thomas Smith and Timothey Smith; his sisters, Brenda Tuttle and Peggy Johnson; and his grandchildren, Triston Smith, Alicia Smith and Haydon Brannon. He is also survived by one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
