He was predeceased by: his father John Giles, Jr.; and his grandparents, John, Glenora Giles, Earnest and Irma Beville.
He is survived by: his mother Irma M. Giles of Martinsville, VA; his son Mathias K. Bannister of Martinsville, VA; and his sister Dr. Karen M. Giles of New Castle, DE. He is also survived by other relatives, and friends.
