Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Mack Oliver and Betty Hairston Oliver; his wife Amanda Hairston Oliver; his son Neil G. Oliver; and his siblings, Burton Oliver and Virginia Oliver Massey.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheryl N. Oliver of Martinsville, VA; and his siblings, Maynard Oliver of Stanleytown, VA, Betty R. Swanson of Kensington, MD, Maxine White of White Oak, MD, Shirley Powell of Roanoke, VA and Iris Ellis of Silver Springs, MD. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
