He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Nester and Josie Viars Nester; his sons, Richard Leonard Cline and Matthew Daniel Cline; and his brothers, Donald Warren Nester and Jerry Wayne Nester.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Jennifer Gail Bitz and Jamie Lynn Staples; and his brothers, Michael Coy Nester and Ronnie Lee Nester. He is also survived by grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Service Chapel (1425 Greensboro Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
