She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Henry Hairston, Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Hairston; her husband Carl Russell Dones; her children, Douglas U. Dones and Carol D. Dalton; and her siblings, Lillian "Widdie" Johnson, Joe H. Hairston, Jr., Nathaniel Hairston, Nicholas Hairston and William Henry Hairston.
She is survived by: her son Karl R.; her siblings, Michael Hairston (Carolyn) of Martinsville, VA, Hattie "Pat" Ross of Detroit, MI and Sophia MacFee of Detroit, MI; Angela Dones of Martinsville, VA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.
Viewing was held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at 64 John Spencer Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112. A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (1043 Church St E, Martinsville, VA 24112).
