It is with sadness that the passing of Thelma Elizabeth Rice of Mathews, Virginia is shared. Thelma passed away on September 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Ralph Edward Rice; her parents, Roy Chewning and Katherine Chewning; and her siblings, James, Woodrow, Deloris and Donald Chewning.

She is survived by: her sons, Tommy Rice (Fawn) and Paul Rice (Sheri); her grandchildren, Chris, Andy, Jeff, Jason, Lauren (Steven) and Cody Rice (Lindsay); her siblings, Barbara, Carrie and Irvin Chewning; and her close friend Kathryn "Ole Cuss" Diggs. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg (10719 Courthouse Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
