He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Arthur Mabe and Hazel Atkins Mabe; his wife Mary Ellen Smith Mabe; his children, Mark Mabe and Sharon Mabe Manuel; his siblings, Bess Clark, Sally Bralley and Aliese McMillion; and his cousins, Franklin "Doddie" Mabe and Ann "Toddie" Mabe.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Mabe (Sherry) and Tracy Mabe; his grandchildren, Johnica Manuel, Kenzie Mabe, Megan Powers, Jessie Fore, Ameranda Powers, Alyssa Sykes and Adyn Sykes; his great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Emma Shrestha, Brylan Fore, Gage, Akaymie, Dalanie, Saphira, XaRyiah Powers, Atlas Brown, Kolton Sykes and Sutton Cooley; his sister Jean Long; his cousin Jim Mabe; and his close friend Herb Armbrister. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barnett Funeral Home (325 Church St, Wytheville, VA 24382). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
