He was predeceased by : his parents, Ruth Ann (Osterman) and Reverend Hugh Albert Whitesell. He is survived by : his wife Connie Whitesell of McDowell; his children, Erin Stevenson (Tipp) of Chesterfield, Thomas "Thom" Freed II (Tonia) of Virginia Beach and Carl "CJ" Whitesell Jr. (Jenny) of Staunton; his aunt Linda; his grandchildren, Serena, Amari, Austin, Amber, Cody and Avery; and his great grandchild Kyra.
