He is survived by : his wife Karen Gammon Bowen; his children, Michael Whitfield Bowen (Donna) of Richmond and Melissa Bowen "Missy" DeSantis (Chris) of Herndon; his grandchildren, Hayden, Brooklynn Bowen, Camryn and Ryan DeSantis; and his siblings, Phillip David Bowen of McKenney, Angela Melinda Hawks of Carson and Joan Elizabeth Daniel White of Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, John would like donations made to the Nine Line Foundation http://www.ninelinefoundation.org.
