He was predeceased by: his parents, Pío Díaz Rivera and Modesta Aponte of Díaz; his grandchild Niove Giselle Díaz Sánchez; his daughter Niove Giselle Díaz Sánchez; and his siblings, Apolinario Díaz Aponte, Antonia Díaz Aponte, Martha Díaz of Mulinos and Faustina Díaz of Pagán.
He is survived by: his spouse Niove Argentina Sánchez Bretón; his children, Vladimir G. Díaz Sánchez (Sara) and Glenda Argentina Díaz Sánchez (Stephen); his grandchildren, Sebastián, Giselle, Daliah Rebecca Díaz (Alexander Rafael Layah), Gabriela Díaz, Vladimir Andrés Díaz and Stefan Eduardo Harvey; and his great grandchild Aleyna Gabriela Layah. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the National Funeral Home (7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Saint Luke Catholic Church (7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101).
Donations in honor of Eduardo Díaz Aponte may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Eduardo had a particularly tender heart for children and could not get through a St. Jude television advertisement without shedding a tear and asking for his checkbook so he could send a donation to help the children.
