He was predeceased by: his parents, H. T. Belcher and Eva Belcher. He is survived by: his wife Eileen; his children, Deborah Whitt (Stacey) of Atlanta, Georgia and Scott Belcher (Suzanne) of Meadowview, Virginia; his brother Dr. James Belcher (Becky) of Richlands, Virginia; his grandchildren, Tyler Whitt (Martha), Nicole Whitt, Andrew Belcher and Baleigh Belcher; and his great grandchild Macy Whitt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Alvin's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
