It is with sadness that the passing of Betty Dickerson Sowder of Mechanicsville, Virginia is shared. Betty, born on November 9, 1938, passed away on August 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Riley Tazewell and Anna Ella Martin Dickerson; and her siblings, Watson Lee Dickerson and Mary Jeanette Graham. She is survived by: her husband James L. Sowder; her children, Johanna Townsend (Gregory) and Nathan Sowder (Jeana); her grandchildren, Kayla Spurlock, Jessica Sowder (Zach) and Hunter Sowder (Jess); her great grandchildren, Marques, Arika, Kayden, Alyssa, Mallory, Nolan, Beau, Abraham and Harold; and her siblings, Marshall Dickerson (Donna) and Edna Conner. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
