Phillip Hayes Nelson Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on April 2, 2026, at the age of 77, Phillip Hayes Nelson of Milford, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his mothers, Vivian H. Nelson and Lorine C. Nelson; his siblings-in-law, Kathleen Gregory, Jerry Baxter and Luke Gregory Jr.; and his stepson Jerome Baxter.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Baxter-Nelson; his daughters, Phillicia Nelson and Patriece Nelson Lee (Brian); his grandchildren, Saniya Evans, Khalil Evans and Brice Lee; his siblings, Bankette Rowland, Barbara Kendrick (Jamie), Bernard Nelson and William Nelson; his nieces and nephews, Amy Wilson, Ashley Fugett, Cheyenne Nelson, Joseph Lindsey and Brian Reynolds; his aunt Madeline Williams; his siblings-in-law, Gloria J. Whitmire, LaDonna Gregory-Tate and Rickey Gregory (Christine); and his close friend Charles Degree. He is also survived by great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.
