He was predeceased by : his parents, Emory Cecil Black and Emma Irene Johnson; his wife Eleanora Josephine Reynolds Black; and his brothers, Melvin and James Black.

He is survived by : his children, Dianne Mynes of Clifton Forge, Timothy Lee Black (Charmain) of Millboro and Jay Stewart Black (Linda) of Millboro; his grandchildren, Jason Pauley (Alyson Coffman), Jeffrey Black, Nathan Black (Lauren) and Aubrey Black (Kylee Hall); and his great grandchildren, Sydney, Jett and Collins Black. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
