He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee Ashley, Sr. and Mary Viola Martin Ashley; and his siblings, Robert "Mickey" Ashley, Jr. and Mary "Sally" Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Thelma "Dolly" Ashley; his children, Roy Carter Ashley, Jr. (Tonya) and Amy Ashley; his grandchildren, Brianna Aiken (Chase), Christian Ashley and Bradley "Little Man" Campbell; his brothers, Houston "Tiny" Ashley (Charlotte) and Garland "Buddy" Ashley (Ada); his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Hicks, Donald Johns (Sheryl) and Brent Johns; and his niece Cheryl Gozalez. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM at the Monroe Ruritan Club (115 Bruner Rd, Monroe, VA 24574). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 15th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center in Roy's memory.
