He was predeceased by : his father Charles A. McKinnish. He is survived by : his mother Sara McKinnish; his wife Lori McKinnish (White); his children, Cianan, Charles, Serrin and Drake McKinnish; his stepdaughter Kayla O'Riley; and his sister Cyndi Sparrow (Doug Sparrow). He is also survived by other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Piedmont Wildlife Center in his honor through their website: https://www.piedmontwildlifecenter.org or by sending a check made out to Piedmont Wildlife Center and mailed to them at 364 Leigh Farm Rd, Durham, NC 27707.
