He was predeceased by : his father Emmett Dale Smith. He is survived by : his mother Bernice Louise Smith (Shifflett) of Monterey; his children, Dale G. Smith of Churchville and AnnaMae Smith of Harrisonburg; his brother Larry Daniel Smith of Monterey; his aunt Patsy Varner (Sonny) of McDowell; and his close friend Dale Hammer of Monterey.
