He was predeceased by : his father Emmett Thomas Pitts, Sr.; and his siblings, David, Earl, Paul Pitts, Peggy Chatham and Pauline Carlson.

He is survived by : his wife Eloise T. Windsor Pitts; his children, Thomas Mark Pitts and Regina Ann Pitts; and his brother Kenneth Pitts. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
