He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Luther Calvin Oliver and Myrtle Smith Oliver of Virginia; his family Eric; his son William Calvin Oliver; his daughter-in-law Patricia "Tricia" Anne Oliver; his grandchildren, Emma Grace Oliver and Eric Pryce Oliver; his brother Luther Glenn Oliver; his cousins, Ann Carter and William "Billy" Smith; his close friends, Willard Lee "Butch" Duval, Ralph Harcum, David Courtney, Thomas Hayden, Dan Courtney, Kaye Shelton, Thomas Clark, Johnny Clark, Joyce Williams, Malachi Stevens, Selena Lewis and Gayle Stevens; and also Wade Wilkins. He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews.
