He was predeceased by: his parents, David Larry Spain, Sr. and Lena Jane Herndon Spain; his wife Elizabeth Keeton Spain; and his brothers, David Spain, Jr., Raymond Spain and Paul Spain.

He is survived by: his children, Alton Leo Spain, Jr. (Brenda) and Carolyn Spain Morgan; his grandsons, Anthony Leo Spain (Adria), Dr. Adam Le Spain (Katrina) and Matthew Alton Spain (Jasmine); and his great grandchildren, Michael, Kingsley, Atticus and Azurra.
