He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Wiliam McCroskey and Lucy Lee Kerr McCroskey; his former wife Melba Harris McCroskey; and his brother Julian Anthony McCroskey. He is survived by: his wife Connie Parks McCroskey; his children, Jason McCroskey (Missy) and Cindy Stafford (Clay); his grandchildren, Jack Alderman, Kilian McCroskey (Madison), Molly, Cathryn McCroskey, Dr. Abi Broda (Kyle) and Clayton Stafford (Olivia); his siblings, Roger McCroskey (Betty) and Evelyn Gordon (Tom); and his special fishing buddy Derwin Gathers Jr.. He is also survived by sisters-in-law; his church family; and several special nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Riverview Baptist Church (219 Big Stony Creek Rd, Ripplemead, VA 24150). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
