He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Arthur Akers and Hazel Elana Wheeler Akers; and his brothers, Larry Akers and Phillip Tyler Akers. He is survived by: his children, Chastin (Morgan) of Pearisburg, Ethan (Calissa) of Lexington, NC, Daniel of Narrows, Chelsey (Josh) of Short Hills, NJ and Kristen of Pulaski; his grandchildren, Reece, Brielle, Ruby, Raegan, Ricky, Braelyn and Brynlee; and his siblings, Mark Akers (Donna) of Narrows, Linda Whisman (Dink) of Roanoke, Sarah Hyatt of Narrows and Rebecca Epling (Jeff) of Rich Creek.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Givens - Riffe Funeral Chapel (600 Main St, Narrows, VA 24124). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
