He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Linwood Palmer and Louise DeJarnette Palmer; and his son-in-law John Powell, Jr.. He is survived by: his spouse Ista Roland Palmer; his children, Patricia Palmer of Herndon, Christopher Palmer of Springfield and Meredith Palmer Fears (Kevin) of Nathalie; his grandsons, Hudson, Colton Powell of Herndon and Noah Fears of Nathalie; and his sister Susan Palmer of Halifax.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Powell Funeral Home (1603 Wilborn Ave, South Boston, VA 24592).
