He was predeceased by: his parents, John Luther Morgan and Helena O'Berry Morgan; and his siblings, Gerald Morgan and Caroline Morgan Braman. He is survived by: his wife Lenora; his sister Janet Hunley; his children, Becky Forrest Morgan and John Robert, Jr. (Andrea); his grandchildren, Michelle Morgan, Tristan, Teaghan and Ryan; his stepchildren, George Riley (Marie) and Shannon Riley (Alan); and his stepgrandchildren, Taylor, Austin and Ethan. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
