He was predeceased by: his parents, Helena Smith Sutton and George R. Sutton Sr.; and his brother Norman I. Sutton. He is survived by: his wife Bridgette Thompson Sutton; his children, Jammal N. Sutton, Marvin L. Sutton, Jr. and Chantelle D. Sutton; his siblings, Adrian V. Sutton (Cheryl), George R. Sutton Jr. (Florence), Rodney Sutton (Sheila) and Arvis S. Williams (Robert); his mother-in-law Virginia Thompson; and his siblings-in-law, Raynell Thompson and Vernell Thompson. He is also survived by seven nephews, two nieces, and a plethora of cousins, extended family members, friends.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel (1601 27th St, Newport News, VA 23607). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
