He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen; and his sisters, Jean Robertson, Lorraine Robey and Ida Mae Clayborn. He is survived by: his children, Michael Rice and Susan Hale (Peyton); his grandchildren, J. C. Freed (Elliot), Peyton Hale (Kelly), Austin Hale (Shanon), Jera Taylor (Cody), Harrison Hale (Robbi) and Carson Hale; and his great grandchildren, Blaire, Gwen, Sloane, Everett, Lark, Savannah, Violet, Sawyer, Zaine, Owen, Reese and Samuel.
