We bid farewell to Alveta Valentine Green of Norfolk, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 12, 2025 at the age of 90. Alveta touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. As we bid Alveta farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Alveta is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Neal Valentine and Obelia Valentine (Morris); and her husband Walter H. Green, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Dr. Alveta J. Green, Darlene M. Green and Walter H. Green, Jr.; and her sister Nadine Clarke. She is also survived by five grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tidewater Alumni Chapter of VSU Alumni Association (VSUAA/TAC, P.O. Box 721, Norfolk, VA 23501 - in honor of Alveta V. Green) or to the Restoration Fund at Basilica of St. Mary's (1000 E. City Hall Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23504 - in memory of Alveta V. Green).

“It was with great sadness to learn of the passing of cousin Alveta Valentine Green. She was a diplomat, a problem solver, and a solution maker. Alveta gave generously with her heart and soul. She always exhibited great faith in herself, in her church and in her community. She and her husband Walter made a great couple looking after family, friends, church, and Norfolk.
