She was predeceased by: her parents, James Chory and Beulah Baccus Chory; and her sister Barbara Haislip of North Carolina. She is survived by: her husband Philip D. Hairston; her sons, Don Hairston (Cathy) of Crozet and Jeff Hairston of Fort Lauderdale; her granddaughter Laura Whitlow (A. C.) of New Kent County, Virginia.; her sister Carol Chory (Angela); her grandchildren, Amanda Hairston, Lauren Hairston, Courtney Hairston and Mitchel Hairston (Caitlin); and her great grandchildren, Camden and Brody Perovanovic.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Graham Funeral Home (1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23320). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Riverside Memorial Park (1000 E Indian River Rd, Norfolk, VA 23523).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army or a charity of your choice in Bette's honor.
