She was predeceased by: her husband Charles A. Thorne, Sr.; her parents, Eugene Spann and Alamond Thornton Spann; her sisters, Elizabeth Broadnax, Louise Bass and Joella Roberts; and her brothers-in-law, Curtis Broadnax, Calvin Bass Sr., James Roberts and John Hobbs.
She is survived by: her daughters, Alamond Spann, Constance Elice Alston of Glen Allen, VA and Laurie Gene Alston of Leland, NC; her sister Johnnie Mae Hobbs (Fort Washington, MD); and her former husband Milton Alston of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
