She was predeceased by: her husband Sherman Smith, Jr.; her son Vincent Sherman Smith; her grandson Taru Lamar Smith, Sr.; her parents, Emmett Ross and Hallie Ross; and her brothers, Otis J. Ross and Emmett Ross, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Ray Anthony Smith, Sr. (Brenda) of Elyria, OH, Victoria Odell Jones (Anthony) of Chesapeake, VA, Ramona Eugenia Robinson (Demetrius) of Virginia Beach, VA and Anita Marie Smith of Lorain, OH; her stepdaughter Brenda Martin (Billy) of San Antonio, TX; her brothers, James Ross (Ora) of Lorain, OH and Bobbie Ray Ross of Lorain, OH; and her sister-in-law Mary Washington of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, two goddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 17th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Berkley Chapel (120 W Berkley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23523). A celebration of life was held on Monday, May 18th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
