We announce the death of Hassie Hughes (Norfolk, Virginia), who passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Simmons and Rosie Lee Simmons; her brothers, J. T. and Willie Simmons; and her daughter Gail Hughes Lamondue.
She is survived by: her husband Walker Lee Hughes; her daughters, Pat Hughes Brown (Mike), Joyce Hughes Smith and Sandra Tee Hughes Rice (Timothy Sr.); her grandchildren, Mikita, Gerell, Jason, Marketta Timothy Jr. (Seth Sr.), Marcella and Joie; her great grandchildren, James, Malachi, Nehemiah, Jayla, Seth, Neriah and Genesis; and her siblings, L. C. Simmons Lithonia (Barbara), David, Betty Hughes Jeffersonville (Oscar) and Virginia Burnett of Macon, GA. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, neighbors, and dear friends.
